Great Entry level December 20, 2008 For the price this receiver is hard to beat. There were reviews of humming and buzz but I have had none. The setup was fast and easy. Highly recommend
Easy, Easy, Easy! December 19, 2008 Easy to set-up, Easy to use, and great sound. I used this to replace a AVR2801 which was way too complex and was never set up properly (and I have an engineering degree; woe be to the technical neophyte). Love the HDMI switching capability, and the automated set up of the surround sound is awesome. My first DVD into the player was "Crouching Tiger" and the chase seen over the rooftops with the drums is incredible. This all took about 30 minutes from start to first view. I would buy this product again and recommend to my friends.
Beyond my expectations / Acima das minhas expectativas December 18, 2008 This reciver surprised me, especially in sound quality, as the flexibility to use the connections available, and its configuration. / Este reciver me surpreendeu, principalmente na qualidade do som, como na flexibilidade para usar as conexoes disponiveis, e a sua configuraçao.
Sound investment (pun intended) December 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Six speaker surround sound is impressive. Watched Batman - The Black Knight with others who had seen it at the movies. They said it sounded exactly the same. Mind you - this was with an old DVD player - so the unit was playing its imitation Dolby Surround sound because RCA cables will not transfer true Dolby sound.
I was not aware prior to receiving the unit that the upconversion only works through an HDMI cable out to the television. (I actually did quite a bit of research on the internet before deciding on this unit - but I suppose the tech sites assume you already know you can't upconvert picture quality wihtout an HDMI connection). If you have a TV set three years or older - you probably don't have that. After a great deal of research on the internet, the inescapable conclusion is that there is no such thing as a convertor from HDMI to component cables - and there probably never will be (because of some copyright issue).
Great value! December 16, 2008 I don't have much to say about this except that it works perfectly. I plugged in everything and it sounds beautiful! I would recommend this receiver to everyone who wants a good value for their money.
