TV not usable with iPod Classic June 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have bought the ONKYO DS-A2X for my iPod Classic 80G. The sound from iPod comes realy good BUT you are NOT able to see Photos or Videos if you have a new iPod Classic 80G/160G. Have not found something in the manual that this is not working. After looking up the ONKYO site they have listed the iPod Classic under the Audio only category. It's shame that the Instruction is not clear on this point. Having now a device that is not usable makes me a little angry - so be warned if you have an iPod Classic.

OSD is ugly January 20, 2008 Compared to the gorgeous display on iPod, the On-Screen-Display that the dock generates on the TV is not intuitive and is ugly. The manufacturers seem to have picked the most unattractive font for the display.
Dock also charges the iPod which cannot be turned off. This forces me to put the iPod on charge every time I want to listen to music using iPod on my home theater system. This seriously damaged the battery life of my previous iPod.
Mixed feelings October 30, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The connection is a snap to set up and the audio sounds great but so far I have to use the bundled remote to control my iPod. All the documentation says that I should be able to use the remote to my Onkyo receiver to control the iPod in the Onkyo DS-A2 but the only function that works on my receiver remote with the dock is the volume. I cant change songs or settings on the iPod unless I use the DS-A2 remote. That isnt a huge deal but they are BOTH Onkyo devices and supposedly completely compatible. I shouldnt have two different remotes.
Too good October 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have this hooked up to my Onkyo 674 and works like a baby. The only painful part is you need the TV on to view your ipod screen to select songs etc. Once you have the songs playing the TV can be switched off. Onky reciever volume can be controlled using the dock remote.

It does what it is supposed to do but I'm wishing I saved the 100 bucks and just used the apple ipod dock that I already had. Would be better if the on screen display didn't look like it was created in the 1980s and if it had the ability to display visualizations and/or album art.
